Cecilia Mwende Maundu is a broadcast journalist working for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, which is the state broadcaster in Kenya. She is a digital security trainer She train people, in particular women, journalists’ and human rights defenders on how to stay safe online since they are the most vulnerable. MsMaundu is a frequent speaker on online gender based violence internationally. She recently was among the main speakers at the just concluded decentralized web summit in San Francisco California.
She is the current elected secretary general of the International Association of Women in Radio and television (IAWRT) Kenya Chapter.
Cecilia is on the quest to make sure that even the most vulnerable feel safe online. Ms Maundu is a graduate of the University of Nairobi where she did a Bachelor of Arts and later proceeded to do Master of Arts in communication at the same university. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in communication Studies at Moi University in Kenya. She is also a User experienceexpert (UX), and leads trainings on collecting feedback and evaluates how effective online security tools are. All this in creating a holistic approach to digital security. Cecilia is passionate about everything on digital security!
